Element Pictures’ The Favourite wins big at 32nd European Film Awards

Irish production company Element Pictures’ The Favourite has won 8 awards at the 32nd European Film Awards on Saturday December 7th in Berlin. The film won European Film, European Comedy, European Director, European Actress, Best Cinematography for Irish DoP Robbie Ryan, Best Costume Design, Best Editor, and Best Hair & Make-up Artist.

The Favourite has been a critical and box-office hit, with its global box-office at nearly $100 million. The film was nominated for 10 Oscars; with Olivia Colman winning the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of Queen Anne. The film also won 7 BAFTA awards earlier this year.

The Favourite stars Olivia Colman and Academy Award winners Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone and marks the third collaboration between Element Pictures and director Yorgos Lanthimos following award-winning films The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

The Favourite has been an incredible journey for all concerned and has exceeded our wildest dreams. It’s truly wonderful to get these awards from our contemporaries in Europe where this film was built and made.
