#IrishAbroad: The Lonely Battle Of Thomas Reid has UK Premiere at 2018 Sheffield Doc/Fest

Feargal Ward’s award-winning documentary feature, The Lonely Battle of Thomas Reid will have its UK premiere this week at the prestigious Sheffield Doc/Fest.

The film, which had its World Premiere at IDFA in Amsterdam has since screened at HotDocs Toronto, ZagrebDox, Moscow International Film Festival, DocAviv, DocumentaMadrid, Docs Against Gravity Warsaw and Dokfest:Munich, and won the Dublin Critics Circle Best Irish Film award at the Dublin International Film Festival.

The Lonely Battle of Thomas Reid, which was financed by the Irish Film Board under their micro-budget scheme will screen at the Showroom Cinema Sheffield on Friday 8th June and Monday 11th June during the Sheffield Doc/Fest.

It’s great to return to Sheffield with our film after our experience last year showing it at the ‘Work in Progress’ screenings. Sheffield Doc/Fest and the MeetMarket industry market was pivotal in enabling us to complete the film by introducing us to our co-producer, Barbara Biemann of NDR/ARD.
Feargal Ward, Director

Doc/Fest is a key festival in the international documentary community and we are delighted that Luke Moody and the festival team have invited us there to have our UK premiere. The film has had a very successful festival run and we now are looking forward to releasing the film to theatres later this year.
Luke McManus, Producer

Three other Irish films appear at the festival: Callum Macrae’s The Ballymurphy Precedent, Maurice Sweeney’s I, Dolours, and Anna Frances Ewert’s Lovers of the Night.
