#IrishAbroad: The Farthest to journey across the US from August 11th

Irish feature documentary The Farthest about the iconic Voyager space mission is set for a US theatrical release starting in New York and Los Angeles from August 11th.

Renowned New York Distributor Richard Abramowitz of Abramorama is handling the release which will start in the Cinema Village Theatre in NYC and the Laemmle Playhouse Theatre Pasadena California with plans for further rollout across the USA.

The film will be released in Irish cinemas this week and is directed by Emer Reynolds and produced by John Murray and Clare Stronge at Crossing the Line.  The Farthest has received worldwide critical acclaim at major international festivals including Tribeca, Edinburgh, Seattle, Sydney and the Audi Dublin International Film Festival (ADIFF)— where it scooped the coveted AUDI-ence award as well as Best Irish Documentary and the George Byrne Maverick Award, which was presented to Reynolds.

A truly extraordinary documentary, The Farthest tells the story of one of humankind’s greatest achievements — the Voyager space mission which defied all the odds visiting for the first time our solar system’s outer planets before achieving humankind’s very first journey into interstellar space. Likely to survive for millions of years, these little craft carry a time capsule of Earth – a Golden Record made under the direction of astronomer Carl Sagan bearing recordings and images of life on our planet. In all likelihood, the two Voyagers and their Golden Records will outlive humanity.

The Farthest was supported by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) and produced in association with HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, RTÉ, BBC, ZDF, Arte and PBS.

The Farthest hits Irish cinemas this Friday, July 28th via Wildcard Distribution.
