Red Carpet Report – Sensitive Skin @ JDIFF 2015

As the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival is in full swing around the city the  Scannain has been out and about taking to the actors and directors on the red carpet. Last night was the Irish preview of  Kim Cattrall’s new television series Sensitive Skin in Movies @ Dundrum. The glamourous Miss Cattrall jetted in to talk about the series and meet her many Irish fans.

FB_IMG_1427475363506So obviously you’ve been to Ireland before, are you interested in coming back to the IFTA’s again?

Oh yes I would, I would, I would. I’ve always had such a lovely time in Ireland, coming to the film festivals, just coming to see friends. It’s really exciting for me, also working with young actors is a thrill for me. You know talking about my new series Sensitive Skin is amazing, it’s been my passion product for eight years so to finally see it realised makes me so proud. I’m really eager, it’s going to air on Sky Arts on April 1st. It’s been a great experience, one person said in an inteview today that they saw themselves in this and I thought, wow that’s great. That’s when you reach an audience.

On Twitter funny enough you are very active with your Kimcats and you had to defend yourself a little over your remark about Jamie Dornan not being your cup of tea.

I know, viva la difference, but he’s lovely. He’s just a little young for me and I’ve already done that. It’s funny because I think that’s what the show is about, relationships in that sense.

There was a few rumblings of you taking on the role of a character in the 50 Shades Of Grey franchise. Is that something you’d still be interested in?

For me it’s always about the script, it’s new territory. That’s what really excites me as an actor and producer. To say yes to something I look at have I seen this character before and is there a story to tell there that hasn’t been heard? The thing I learned from Sensitive Skin is that time is ticking and you get more aware of that as you get older. How do I want to spend my time and with whom? If the project can answer those questions and in a positive way then yes I would definitely do that.

Are you excited then to get back to filming the second season of Sensitive Skin?

Yes, we start filming in May. We’ve hired three female writers and we’re going through the scripts now and making sure they are as ready as the first season scripts were.

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival continues until Sunday March 29th. Tickets and more information can be found on the festival website.
