Scannain mourns the passing of Dublin critic Stephen Coffey

The Irish film critic community lost an exceptional writer, a great wit, and a true friend this week with the passing of Stephen Coffey, better known to many as Gar Cremona.

Stephen was an ever present at screenings and events, and brought a warm presence and rapacious sense of humour wherever he went. His passion for films, and for comics and superheroes, knew no bounds.

Stephen was also a celebrated author and artist. His books and artwork are available still as a tribute to his memory. They can be brought from Amazon and from Fine Art America by anyone who wishes.

Cancer sadly took Stephen far far too young on Wednesday, and our thoughts go to his loving wife Tina and his family, and all of his many many friends.

Stephen’s funeral thanks place tomorrow. Details are available from RIP.ie.
