Fund It: Irish Films – July 2014

One of the things we love here at Scannain is filmmakers who are not afraid to take risks. Filmmakers who have a desire, a passion to bring their cinematic dreams to life. And we feel we have an obligation to help in whatever small way we can to make their visions real. That’s why we have this column to help Irish filmmakers who are crowd-sourcing funding for their films gain a little more exposure. Please check out the projects below, and if one takes your fancy please help these films come to life. Give a little love to Irish films.

Killruddery Film Festival

Okay this is technically not a film, but it does host a ton of shorts and feature films and is a great annual event. The Killruddery Film Festival is an annual three-day event established in 2009. Its program consists of film screenings, workshops and discussions, all in the beautiful surroundings of Killruddery House and Gardens. This year the festival is being programmed by film maker Andrew Legge, actress Serena Brabazon and artist Fionnuala Ardee, and will screen approximately twelve features and a selection of shorts with a strong emphasis on silent cinema. All the silent films are screened with live musical accompaniment.

The festival also hosts workshops on music improvisation and composition, discussions with festival guests, a cabaret evening and dinners in the gardens of Killruddery House.

Your donation goes towards the print fees, guest travel, technical stuff and the live musical elemen, with all of the staff volunteering their time and efforts. The festival itself will run 19th – 21st September.
