Tilted Pictures was established in 2008 by film school friends Rory Dungan, Rachael O’Kane and David Freyne.
After producing almost a dozen award-winning short films and television series, Tilted Pictures produced its first two feature films in 2017 and 2018, The Cured and The Belly of the Whale. With financing from sources including Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland (FÉ/SI) is the national development agency for Irish filmmaking and the Irish film, television and animation industry., Northern Ireland Screen, Bac Films and the Slovenian Film Centre.
The Cured stars Ellen Page, Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and had its World Premiere in the prestigious Special Presentation section of the Toronto International Film Festival, 2017. Before winning Best Horror at America’s biggest genre festival, Fantastic Fest. Its European Premiere was at the BFI London Film Festival.
The Belly of the Whale, starring incredible newcomer Lewis MacDougall, as well as Michael Smiley and Pat Shortt, at time of writing, is nearing completion.
Other upcoming projects on the Tilted Pictures slate include David Freyne’s next film, Beards. An adaptation of the critically lauded play The Life and Sort of Death of Eric Argyle. A supernatural chiller The Sluagh, alongside Penny Dreadful Films in Scotland. And two biopics, Then They Came for Mary, about Irishwoman Mary Elmes who saved hundreds of children from death during World War 2. And La Belle Rafaela, about the cult artist Tamara De Lempicka. Tilted Pictures also have an ongoing slate of television projects and other feature films.
