The first trailer for Apollo 18 has emerged, and it sets a suitably sinister tone for a space based horror. The movie draws obvious inspiration from Alien and Event Horizon, but it also has a Blair Witch Project feel with the found footage angle and low-calibre acting, or so it looks from this two and a half minute look.
The movie focuses on the aborted Apollo 18 mission to the moon. It seems that maybe the mission wasn’t cancelled after all. According to the film the reason it was “cancelled” is that man wasn’t the first creature on the lunar surface. It certainly helps explain why we have never returned there.
Firmly situated in the could be brilliant/could be rubbish, will definitely be interesting bracket of movies. One great thing in its favour is the inclusion of Timur Bekmambetov, of Wanted and Night Watch fame as producer, with Gonzales Lopez-Gallego (director of the great Spanish thriller King of the Hill) behind the camera.

Synopsis:
Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.
