The 8th Jameson Dublin International Film Festival has ended for another year, and whilst it’s a sad day for all Irish cinemaphiles it does mean that it’s time to hand out the awards.
A panel representing The Dublin Film Critics Circle has named Australian drama Samson and Delilah as the Best Film, with Ivan Kavanagh’s The Fading Light picking up the Best Irish Film. Patrick O’Donnell also took home the award for Best Actor (Male) for his performance as an adult with special needs in that movie.
Audience favourite and star of the festival Tilda Swinton picked up the award for Best Actor (Female) for her role in I Am Love. Elsewhere Ken Wardrop’s documentary His & Hers received the Best Documentary, along with the Audience Award. Cinematographer Kate McCullough was the recipient of the inaugural Michael Dwyer Discovery Award for outstanding new talent.
Now only another 350 days till next years event…
