ScreenDaily is reporting that Krypton, the SyFy Channel’s new TV series set on Superman’s home planet, will film at the brand-new Belfast Harbour Studios in Northern Ireland.
The series, which will be the first series filmed at the facility, is set approximately 200 years before the time period of the DCEU film Man of Steel film, and will follow Superman’s grandfather – whose House of El was ostracised and shamed – as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Cameron Cuffe takes the lead, supported by Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Aaron Pierre, and Irish actor Ian McElhinney.
Krypton is the brainchild of David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) and Damian Kindler (Stargate: SG1) and is being developed by Phantom Four in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television for the Syfy channel. Pre-production starts this month, with filming commencing in the late summer.
We are delighted to welcome Warner Horizon to Northern Ireland. Securing Krypton is a real coup for us and cements our position as a world-class filming location with a local and highly skilled crew-base with vast experience. The construction of the new studios by Belfast Harbour has added tremendous value to our overall proposition.
Richard Williams, CEO – Northern Ireland Screen
