Multi-award winning writer-director Terry McMahon hosts an intensive two-day ‘Writing and Directing Your Film’ workshop on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of December in The Lab on Foley Street, Dublin.
Do you have an idea for a film? Or do you have a script already written? Do you want to take the next step to being on set directing your own film? Regardless of which stage of the process you are at this two-day workshop will get you much closer to making your movie.
Detailing the fundamental techniques of screenwriting you will learn how to interrogate your idea in order to develop it into a cohesive structure. You will examine the principles and necessities of character, the ‘arc of transformation’ and the prerequisites for successful scene-by-scene constructs. Through empowering analysis of your idea and/or script you will be well on your way to fixing your current draft or completing your first draft.
Taking your scenes off the page and onto the floor you discover how to most effectively work with actors and non actors and how to transform a scene. You will learn how and why dialogue works and the profound impact an actor can have on your material. You will learn how to improve both your writing and your directing skills by interrogating your scene in a way you hadn’t imagined.
Running from 10:30am – 4:00pm on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of December the cost of this two day workshop is only €100 but places are limited.
