Irish Abroad: Ian Ruby’s Dead Dogs to play Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase

News from America, where Cork film-maker Ian Ruby’s debut independent Irish feature Dead Dogs has been selected for the Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase in Fort Worth, Texas.

The film, which was made via independent mean, and practically no-budget, was shot over 13 days in 2013 and had its world premiere at a sold out screening during the 2014 IndieCork Film Festival.

Dead Dogs is a stark, heartfelt portrait of struggling families, mental illness and isolation. It follows a man attempting to reconnect with his estranged family, who live in fear of his violent outbursts. Meanwhile his neighbour longs to get away from his miserable home life and from the clutches of a brutal gangster.
