The Dublin International Film Festival has announced that submissions for Feature films and Documentaries over 60 mins in length are now open through Film Freeway.
Established in 2003, DIFF has fast become Ireland’s premier feature film festival and takes place in Ireland’s capital city over the course of eleven days each Spring. At the festival’s heart are its audiences, international cinema, exciting new Irish cinema, a retrospective selection, a screenwriting focus and its platform for Q&As and panels at DIFF’s Behind the Scenes events.
The DIFF audiences are central to the festival and each year they have their say in the Audience Award. In 2015 Wim Wenders won the award for his documentary The Salt of the Earth, with Oscar Nominated Boogaloo and Graham taking home the Audience Award for best short.
Every year Festival Director Grainne Humphreys travels to international festivals such as Cannes, TIFF, LFF, EIFF and Off Plus Camera to view films for the festival programme. However, every year films are also selected via a highly competitive submission process, with hundreds of entries from which a select choice will make the catalogue.
DIFF puts the films and filmmakers at its heart and understands the importance of nurturing new and experienced talent alike. So get your submissions in before the rush, and avail of the Early-Bird discount by submitting before July 17th.
To be eligible all films considered must be Irish premieres, they must be delivered for cinema exhibition in 35MM or Digital. For viewing purposes entries should be submitted on DVD or by screening link at the submission stage.
Applicants will be notified of the status of their submission by email by approximately 5th Jan 2016. Successful applicants will be required to supply a film print or video master for screening at DIFF 2016.
