Sony Pictures Classic has released the US trailer for Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Leviathan. The film is Russia’s official entry for Best Foreign Language film at the 87th Oscars, having wowed at Cannes earlier this year. It even managed to pick up the prize Best Screenplay at that prestigious festival.
The plot is a modern reworking of the Book of Job, and tells the story of a man who struggles against a corrupt mayor who wants his piece of land on a peninsula by the Barents Sea.
The film stars Aleksei Serebryakov, Elena Lyadova, and Vladimir Vdovichenkov.
Leviathan opens in Ireland on November 7th.
