With Deepest Sympathy: Harold Ramis

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of legendary Hollywood actor, writer, and director Harold Ramis. Aged just 69 Ramis died after complications related to auto-immune inflammatory vasculitis which he was diagnosed with four years ago.

A titan in the world of comedic film, Ramis was the creative force behind such comedy classics as GhostbustersGhostbusters II, Meatballs, National Lampoon’s Animal House, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day and Stripes.

Born in Chicago he rose to fame as a member of the Windy City’s improv troupe Second City, before transitioning to feature films as co-writer of 1978’s Animal House.  He is probably best remembered for his roles as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters, and Russell Ziskey in Stripes, both of which he co-wrote.

Ramis is survived by his wife Erica, and 3 children. Our thoughts are with them. Rest in peace Harold. Thanks for the laughs.
