First clip from Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac

Artifical Eye has released the first clip or “appetiser” for Lars von Trier’s erotic two-part drama Nymphomaniac. This clip shows one-minute from Chapter One “The Compleat Angler” and sets a good tone.

The films follow Joe, a 50-year-old self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who is reconnecting her life and sexual experiences.

Charlotte Gainsbourg stars as Joe, with an excellent supporting cast including Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman and Willem Dafoe.

Nymphomaniac will be released on May 30th in its native Denmark. No word on an Irish release date as of yet.

Nymphomaniac is the wild and poetic story of a woman’s journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgård), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushy branched-out and multifaceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.
