The nominees for the 8th annual Irish Film and Television Awards are in

The nominees for the 8th annual Irish Film and Television Awards have been announced,and there’s a few surprise and welcome inclusions amongst the lists.

Bosnian-set drama As If I Am Not There leading the film nominations with six, including Best Film, Best Director (Juanita Wilson), Best Script (Juanita Wilson) and Best International Actress (Natasha Petrovic). Hot on the tails with 5 nominations are The Runaway and Swansong – Story of Occi Byrne, while Rewind and Perrier’s Bounty picked up 4 each.

Irish stars are will represented at the awards with Pierce Brosnan picking up a nomination for his role in The Ghost Writer, Colin Farrell  for The Way Back, Brendan Gleeson  for Perrier’s Bounty, Cillian Murphy for Perrier’s Bounty, Liam Neeson for Chloe, Amy Huberman  for Rewind and Saoirse Ronan  for The Way Back.

International heavyweights Inception, The King’s Speech, The Social Network, Toy Story 3 and the excellent French film A Prophet are all up for gongs too.

The awards take place on Saturday, 12 February at the Convention Centre Dublin.
