#Industry: New FilmOffaly video promotes Offaly as Ireland’s ultimate film location

Frequently we get asked what can be done to promote filmmaking in Ireland outside of Dublin, and we always point to FilmOffaly as a prime example of how rural organisations can help filmmakers.

A case in point is the new promo video that they have just launched, that highlights the locations that Offaly has to offer both national and international productions.

FilmOffaly is Offaly’s Film Commission and a project of Offaly County Council. Since 2008 it has been instrumental in increasing the amount of filmmaking in the county through its Bursary and Short Film Awards, as well as through the OFFline Film Festival which takes place in Birr eah October.

Recent features filmed in the county include Garret Daly and Martina McGlynn’s A Nightingale Falling and Mark Noonan’s You’re Ugly Too, while recent shorts include Niamh Heery’s Our Unfenced Country and Brian O’Neill’s Caper.

For more on FilmOffaly check out their recently redesigned website, which features location details, a crew database, and informaton on businesses and other services in the region.
