Irish Abroad: Patrick’s Day heads to the Cannes Marché

ScreenDaily is reporting that The Little Film Company has added three films to those that it will be selling at the Marché at the Cannes Film Festival. One of the three is Terry McMahon’s multi-award-winning Patrick’s Day.

The other two are Basel Owies’ thriller The Barber, starring Scott Glenn and Chris Coy, and James Marquand’s One Night In Istanbul, starring Steve Waddington, Paul Barber, Lucien Laviscount, and Samantha Womack.

The news comes just over a week after Patrick’s Day was nominated for nine IFTA Awards, sharing the honour for most nominations with Lenny Abrahamson’s sublime Frank.

The film stars Moe Dunford as a young man with mental health issues who becomes intimate with a flight attendant (Catherine Walker) with her own demons.  When his obsessive mother (Kerry Fox) finds out she enlists a dysfunctional detective (Jackson) to separate them.

Patrick’s Day has been hitting the festival circuit across Europe in the last few months and it will be hoped that this familiarity with the film will lead to a number of international sales.
