#IrishFilm: Mixed Bag Media announces multiple deals for A Nightingale Falling and Who is Dervla Murphy?

Offaly based production company Mixed Bag Media has announced multiple acquisition deals for its award winning catalogue of feature film and documentary productions. The biggest development involves a US distribution deal for its most recent feature film A Nightingale Falling.

Flix Premiere, the world’s first online Cineplex, has acquired exclusive US and UK distribution rights for the Irish film directed by Garret Daly and Martina McGlynn and starring IFTA Nominated Tara Breathnach. The period drama forms part of a curated selection of movies launched on the company’s theater-on-demand platform.

Speaking on behalf of the production co-director Garret Daly said:

It’s really great that audiences in America will now have a chance to see the film. There’s a huge Irish American community and a platform like Flix Premiere is a perfect collaboration to reach that audience.

Following its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh the film went on to receive a Best Actress IFTA nomination for Tara Breathnach, Best Film at the Sky Road Film Festival, Best Feature at the Underground Film Festival in Dublin, a Best Drama Score the Reel Music Awards and an Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking from the Newport Beach Film Festival.

The deal with Flix Premiere was handled by Maura Ford of the 7&7 Sales Agency in London on behalf of Mixed Bag Media.

The feature documentary on the renowned travel writer will also debut on DVD and VOD August 1st.

The final deal involves an older project from the companies back catalogue. A feature length version of an arts travelogue film entitled A Grand Experience will screen on Irish TV this July. Whilst a shorter version of the film was originally screened on RTE in 2012, this will be the first screening of the feature length version. The film charts a journey by three artists – writer Eugene O’Brien, musician Wayne Brennan and photographer Veronica Nicholson – along the Grand Canal in Offaly on board an original 68 Grand Canal boat. Viewers can see the film on Irish TV July 5th at 9.30pm.
