Event: Film Fatale presents Gentlemen Prefer Blondes – August 16th

Film Fatale will soon host a night of vintage fashion, retro music, classic cocktails and good old-fashioned fun. A toe tapping, ultra glamorous musical extravaganza, with an enrapturing performance that catapulted Marilyn Monroe to fame. Get ready as Film Fatale presents Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on August 16th in The Sugar Club, Dublin!

One of Hollywood’s greats, director Howard Hawks brings a sassy Jane Russell and a sparkling Marilyn Monroe to the silver screen as showgirls Dorothy and Lorelei. Flirtatious platinum blonde Lorelei is committed to marrying a millionaire so that love won’t be tainted by money worries, while the sharp-tongued, raven-haired Dorothy follows her heart towards all the wrong kinds of men. With fantastically racy music numbers, this stunning Technicolor extravaganza is one of the most exhilarating and intoxicating musicals comedy capers of Hollywood’s glamorous 1950s.

Embrace the 1950s and help set the scene by dressing in your finest vintage clothing, snappiest suits or cheesiest Hawaiian shirt, or go all out and embrace your inner Marilyn, 1950s starlet or showgirl.

The Film Fatale Fabulous Fifties Vintage Dance will follow the screening, where you can swing dance and rock ‘n roll, fifties style to our house band Jaime Nanci and The Blue Boys, and jitterbug to resident retro DJs The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers, who will be playing music from the film’s era as well as your favourite tunes from twenties through to the seventies. The event will have the special summer Tiki Garden, a cheesy 1950s outdoor Tiki bar, complete with kitsch summer songs and tasty summer cocktails.

Sit back in the sumptuous surroundings of the Sugar Club, enjoy a classic signature cocktail designed especially for the night, have the Film Fatale usherettes serve you popcorn while watching Howard Hawks’ smoldering musical comedy before dancing the night away to ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend’.
