Jack Reynor - Free Fire

#Festival: Jack Reynor to attend Dingle International Film Festival screening of Free Fire

Dingle  International Film Festival (Dingle IFF) 2017 has announced that Irish star Jack Reynor will visit Dingle for the screening of Ben Wheatley’s new film Free Fire in The Phoenix Cinema on Thursday, March 23rd.

Reynor’s first role was in Kirsten Sheridan’s live format, unscripted Dollhouse, which premiered at Berlinale 2012. Also in 2012, Reynor’s breakthrough role was in Lenny Abrahamson’s feature What Richard Did, which screened at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. The film portrays the fall of a high school rugby star whose world unravels after his involvement in an act of careless violence. For his outstanding performance, Reynor won an IFTA Award for ‘Best Actor – Film’ and was nominated for a ‘Rising Star Award’ at the IFTAs. His next feature film Glassland, which also starred Toni Collette and Michael Smiley, earned Jack further praise from the international film community— he won the ‘World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting’ at the Sundance Film Festival, and also won a ‘Rising Star’ Award at CinemaCon in the US, in 2014. Reynor credits this role for igniting his career—“That film really broke the back of North America for me and helped me very much to get into the broader international market.”

Reynor’s newest film, Free Fire, will provide wholesome entertainment and intimate reflection on Irish society respectively. Reynor commented on his great time working on the wonderfully funny and stylised Free Fire“I just think Ben Wheatley’s phenomenal … It’s set in 1978, so it’s serious style; John Legend era! … Who doesn’t love gunfight movies? Hopefully, a lot of people will go and see it.”

Reynor has several other upcoming projects to be released in the near future—HHhH is a biographical war drama about the assassination of Nazi Leader Reinhard Heydrich. Reynor stars alongside acclaimed actors Jason Clarke, Oscar-nominated Rosamund Pike, and fellow Free Fire actor Enzo Cilenti. Reynor will also deliver a motion-captured performance as Brother Wolf in the upcoming adaptation of Jungle Book. He will star alongside Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris, Andy Serkis (also director and producer), and Freida Pinto.

Reynor also stars in the festival’s closing film The Secret Scripture, directed but Jim Sheridan.

Dingle IFF extends their biggest welcome to Jack Reynor, and hope that you come out and see him at this year’s festival. It’s going to be a wild ride! Tickets are available here. Director Ben Wheatley will also be in attendance for a Q&A with critic John Maguire.
