Irish Actor Jenn Murray joins Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

No sooner than we find out that Colin Farrell has signed on to join Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, do we learn of another Irish addition to the cast. The Wrap is reporting that Northern Irish born Jenn Murray will play an unspecified key role in the adaptation.

Murray joins Farrell, Eddie Redmayne, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Faith Wood-Blagrove, and Alison Sudol. She will next be seen on Irish screens in John Crowley’s Brooklyn on November 6th, having previously starred in Alan Brennan’s Earthbound and last year’s Testament of Youth.

The film is the first in a trilogy, and is set 70 years before the events depicted in the Harry Potter series, based of a small book that Rowling wrote for Comic Relief. The trilogy will follow the adventures of writer Newt Scamander (Redmayne) in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards.

Potter veteran David Yates is directing the film, based on a script by author J.K. Rowling. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is due out in cinemas on November 18, 2016.
